I have had an Navman S90i for about six months now as a replacement for an F series that got stolen from my vehicle (DON'T leave them in the holder as it makes a tempting target for thieves). and I must admit the unit is not as "friendly" as the old one, firstly downloading POI's and sounds with supplied bitmaps does not work in many instances. and secondly I have wired the unit directly through the fuse box to the car and it has a habit every few days of resetting. I have applied the SP and still the same issues. Bit of a shame really as in other respects Navman got it right.

Anybody else use the S90 or similar having the same issues. I might add that support at Navman is a bit nonexistant they always want you to send the unit to them which is inconvenient as I am in Victoria....

Any Comments welcome.

So long as the bmp icons are less than 32x32 (for the S90i (the F series bmp's need to be 22x22 otherwise just a black square appears) and you've downloaded the correct CSV file, as i think the format is different with other devices that use CSV files. The bmp should be named the same as the CSV file in order for it to associate it self with that file. Then you should have no problem when using the ST software to transfer the POI updates. If there's a problem with them it usually flags up during the transfer.

Hi.

Have just posted some replys that may be of assistance to you under my ID of grantdale1.

I have a S50 and have been having problems for the past 6 months since new, with both crashes, hangs, and POI Icons not appearing (or appearing for only a few seconds).

According to NAVMAN Support in Sydney, my issue with the disappearing ICONS is probably due to screen rendering problems. The ICONs appear on the edges of the screen, then as the screen refreshes, they disappear. I still have to hammer Support for a fix, if there is one, as I have read on the net of many people having this issue.

As for the crashes, I will not detail again the dramas I have been through, but maybe you can read my other replys.

Grant

I have replaced my S90I with a S150 (don't ask me why I persist with an inferior product), and the same "soft" reboot stills occurs. When I first got it it seemed okay, however having loaded my POIs on the device the reboot occurs. I have tried to rest and rebuild it numerous times - still the same.

There is a note going around that it is something to do with the way it handles cache and the POI's

Refer to other posts

As usual Navman provide no support apart from sending it back...

I personally feel that this is a product that is not fit for purpose as it occurs on a lot of devices.

The problem is what to do about it as Navman seem deaf to the issue.

Any comments would be appreciated
