|
|
It is quite easy to edit or convert POI files using our POI conversion tools.
1. Find and open any GPS POI file in GPI, CSV, GPX, OV2, LMX, KML or KMZ file format.
2. Press the button and save the file to your PC, SD card or GPS device.
You can convert, edit, merge and visualize different POI files. You can both import and export POIs. Tons of helpful stuff on this site including our ready-to-use POI files and an on-line POI converter.
It is used to create and edit your own custom POI files in any format that you need (Garmin format, TomTom format, Navma format etc.). You can convert Garmin GPX and CSV POI's to TomTom OV2 POIs and vice versa, TomTom POI's to Garmin POI's format. All is done in just a click. POI converters are easy to use - GPS novice favorite tool selection grade. You can even edit some POIs that come factory preinstalled on Garmin and TomTom devices.
More POI conversion related info is available here: Convert POI.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Getting a bit confused between so many different file formats relevant to Garmin device ... CSV, GPX, GPI
which ones can or cannot have proximity alerts?
which ones can or cannot have phone numbers?
which ones can or cannot have icon specified for a location?
which ones can or cannot have a sound specified for proximity alert for a location?
which ones can or cannot have a comma within the description for a location (eg Jones, Dick & Dora)?
which one does my Nuvi 310 keep Favourites in?
which one does my Nuvi 310 keep Custom POIs in?
What info do I lose if I convert from a Google Earth KML file to a CSV? or to a GPX?
What info do I lose if I convert from a GPX to a CSV?

CSV & GPX are just different formats to keep and edit your POI on your PC, when you load them onto your Nuvi they are changed and saved as GPI.

What info do I lose if I convert from a Google Earth KML file to a CSV? or to a GPX? Haven't done this so not sure, just try it and see. if you change it to a CSV you can open and edit in Excel.
What info do I lose if I convert from a GPX to a CSV? Shouldn't lose anything.
