| What files are required on a Garmin 205w to have the gps alert you when a speed trap or a red light camera is coming up ahead?

I use the .csv files. Pick the one you want either extended or regular. Extended info just has address and or Phone number I believe. then grab the .bmp file too ( for a picture to display on the map if you want...or not) then grab the .mp3 file if your unit can play mp3. As you have the 205w it can't play mp3 so scroll down and grab one of the .wav files from Nokia.
Put them all in the same folder and the file names have to be identical except for the .xxx extensions. I don't use this feature much so haven't tested them out much but even if you don't grab the .wav or .mp3 file your Garmin will still notify you of an alert...it just won't say what it is or how close. A small box pops up on the screen and you hear a tone beep while you are within it's trigger zone. Then it disappears on its own.

In addition, you will probably see an error"unable to find \Garmin\sox.exe" then display that it can't convert the wav file correctly. To fix the Sox error you have to download the SOX.EXE.
Sox.exe is available HERE. Download the SOX file, scan it and/or unzip it if needed.
Once unzipped and saved to your PC (should just be one file and you will need sox.exe version 14.0.1), drag it or copy it to your \Garmin folder (that should be where the POI Loader is installed).
Reload your POI's again and the sox.exe will convert the .wav file properly. You will get a prompt to run sox.exe, click run.
I just tested it and it worked fine. You can try it out without heading out in the car.
Go to tools>settings>system and turn on GPS simulator.
Press and hold back for 2seconds (quickly gets you out to "Where to Map Menue"
Go to Where to>Extras>Custom POIs> Redlight Cameras.
Click on one
Click map then zoom in and press on a road that intersects with the redlight camera "dot".
Press "SetLoc" then press "GO!"
Press "yes" when asked if you'd like to simulate driving this route.
Sit back and Listen.

Are you sure it is a 205w or is it a 250w?
I used the Garmin mp3 POI version and it works great!

It sounds funny, but we can make our own voice as mp3, then hear yourself speak out every time.
