Any one thinking of buying this unit consider that it has absolutely woeful pronunciations of street, suburb and place names.
Ie. "Blacktown" becomes "Blackchun", etc.

| I have a couple of different gps units and the speech can be somewhat ordinary on them too. Don't think just on Garmin thing...

I have a Nuvi 360 europe. Emily has alovely voice but is too quiet. Daniel is a pompous ass but I can just about hear him over music. Goodness knows I don't want one of those 'comedy' voices but are other voices not available for the garmin?
PS. I frequently take wrong turns in France as Daniel tries to master something like Rue Charles De Gaulle which comes out as rooies charlies des galleys.

I've got the 255WT and think the voices are actually pretty good. I made a favorite for my place of work (not that it's a favorite place to go) and named it, and it even pronounces the business name. I've ben using a 276C for years, but the voice commands never worked, despite trying different speakers, so I'm used to no voice, only an audible tone. The voice on the 255 seems to do pretty well for me. Overall, I'm pretty impressed.
