Bit of a noob to this, and I'm wondering if installing the wav files will give me audio warnings; I can't find much info on this model as it's quite recent
OK, For anyone who has one of these units it is possible to have audible alerts; .wav format sounds seem to work wonderfully - I created some UK English files that are fairly good - the TTS engine I used has a voice that matches the UK English Serena voice on the nav.
I followed the naming convention used on the add-on voices here, same bitrate, and added them to the folder with the POI files and icon bitmaps, then created a GPI file and uploaded using POI Loader.
I may try putting the icons and wavs in a separate GPI to the POI's and see if the sounds and icons behave; then it will just be a case of updating the POI's with a minimum of fuss.
If anyone wants a copy of the voice files let me know
Since my last attempt at sound files I have spent some time on creating some better icons; these appear almost the same size (on my 2699 LMT-D anyway) as the default icons, complete with rounded corners!
I've made a set for UK POI's with sound files using TTS technology so they pretty closely match the English female voice, and have now added icons to work with French POI files with voice files - English language and accent as I could not find a Brigitte Bardot TTS voice sadly; so you'll have to put up with the Fiona Bruce soundalike.
I'll zip the UK/FR stuff separately - drop me a line if you would like these
What I do is have the date as part of the file name and delete the previous version when installing a new one.
To update the base folder just download fresh csv files and overwrite the old ones.
I keep the French files in a FR base folder; I update these only when travelling to France in a separate .gpi file so it makes sense to have two folders.
When I get time I'll do a set for Germany - but don't hold your breath - It's not likely to be before the end of August, as French Ferry workers and border violators ( I don't use this vague blanket term migrants! ) permitting we are away on Sunday! Bit of a European tour planned; France, Switzerland & Germany, hopefully to see a couple of Trabants for sale, so with luck I'll be Trabant Dave again, instead of my present Trabantless condition.......
Regards
Dave
PS - Thanks to Mark for uploading the files as I wouldn't know where to begin!
