I've just discovered this site. I purchased a garmin nuvi 40lm after seeing a friend's alert her for all speed cameras but I was disappointed because mine did not have the same feature. She bought hers a year or so ago and did not have to purchase or download anything additional for that feature so I'm not sure if it was something discontinued.
Anyway, I want to register to this site but after browsing my question is, is there a simpler way to download the speed cameras for a region rather than one by one and how so? I see the categories divided by speed camera 30mph, 40mph, and so on. Is there a way I can download them all for a certain region without going through each category and searching each state?
I downloaded maybe 20 for my state and they are all named with POI and a number. I noticed a few times the file would appear to be a duplicate although I had chosen a different speed trap location. How can I keep track of these numbers and be sure not to duplicate any downloads?
Lastly, I downloaded the POI downloader and it says the files were downloaded to my garmin successfully. After I hit exit I don't see an icon for it anywhere on my computer. Is that something I have to access from this site every time? I thought the POI software was something that would be downloaded to my computer.
I feel so non tech savvy
All suggestions appreciated!
Hi, it also took me a while to get the hang of this site, and my SAT NAV as i just got it. I am still in the process of deciphering it all but will post on the little that i have experienced.
Regarding the there being an easier way to download for a region, well i have not come across it.
I am guessing you mean the POI loader in your last question. If it is then i know you may have to access your dowloads folder to install the file on your computer. To get to your downloads folder ( if you are using windows 7) you can access it through start and then documents. A separate page should open up and on the left side in the page you will have options ranging from favourites, libraries, computer. You should also see the downloads folder there, click on it and you should find the POI loader file inside. Install it and you should have the POI icon either n your desktop or in the start pin down menu. Hope this was relevant.
