I have copied and pasted quite a few times from other GPS files into one and now all the names have ;;; under them. Each line looks like this:

-113.69601,53.68704,POI Location,,; ; ; ;

and if i take away anything after "POI Location" it says the whole file is an invalid .gpx

Ive been trying to keep it gpx to gpx but everything was originally converted from ov2 (tomtom) so maybe that's the problem

Hi
That line is not a GPX line, it is a simple CSV line. You can convert it to GPX format.

The whole thing is a GPS file right already. So i have to convert a gpx file to a gpx file? I'm confused.

Can you copy and paste a few more data lines?
What is the filename extension? CSV or GPX?

Can you copy and paste a few more data lines?
What is the filename extension? CSV or GPX?
Your file would probably work if you rename it from *.gpx to *.csv
